New Transfer record for the A-League

Jordan Bos, the promising talent from Melbourne City, has achieved a remarkable milestone by becoming the most expensive outgoing transfer from Australia. In a span of just 18 months since his debut in the senior Isuzu UTE A-League, Bos has secured a sensational $2 million move to KVC Westerlo, a top-tier club in Belgium.

This groundbreaking deal has the potential to exceed $3 million when factoring in additional bonuses. At the age of 20, Bos will bid farewell to Australia in June, following the completion of his commitments with City for the 2022-23 season. The highly anticipated A-League Grand Final is scheduled to take place at Commbank Stadium on June 3.

Notably, Bos's transfer surpasses the previous record held in the A-League, believed to belong to former Melbourne City player Aaron Mooy. Furthermore, it eclipses the longstanding all-time record set by Zeljko Kalac, the ex-Socceroos and AC Milan goalkeeper, whose transfer from Sydney United to Leicester City amounted to $1.7 million.

While there have been larger transfers involving Australian players and foreign clubs in the past, this historic move stands out as the most significant sale of an Australian-based player directly to an overseas club.

We extend our heartfelt wishes to Jordan Bos as he embarks on this new chapter in his career. Best of luck, Jordan!
